A project is a set of activities with a defined start point and a defined end state.
Project management is the activity of defining, planning, and controlling such projects.

It is one of those activities that all managers are going to be involved in at some time or another.

Of course, some managers are professional project managers who are employed to coordinate large projects so they complete on time, on specification, and on budget.

But most of us manage smaller, although not necessarily less difficult, projects.

Yet all projects are managed using a very similar set of principles.
